Whimsical

For several years, the only design tool I used was Sketch. I used it for sitemaps, user flows, wireframes, and visual design. That's changed. A few months back I stumbled across Whimsical, and immediately fell in love with how simple and quick it was to create sitemaps and user flows. It's my new favorite tool to quickly explore ideas in the early stages of a project. Recently, they expanding their service to offer wireframes, mind maps, and sticky notes, along with team collaboration. I've been using sticky notes like a kanban board and it's just what I need to manage my personal workload. They also have some great articles ranging from "How We Designed Whimsical for Speed" to "10 Reflections from Founding a SaaS Startup".

Over the past year, I've been designing a new UI system and workflow for the entire online experience at Minted. It powers everything from the e-commerce flow, contact management, and SAAS products. Such a complex and rewarding problem to solve. We are slowly rolling it out to the site, but I'm very happy that Minted Wedding Websites is one of the first products to be rebuilt. This gave us the opportunity to clean up the experience a bit, and build in some big features our customers have always wanted. As the system matures, I have also been pleased to see the speed and efficiency it has brought to the design workflow. I'm excited to hear what our customers think about the changes, and look forward to continually improving their experience at Minted using this new system.

Flixable

While Netflix spends their time trying to figure out what I would like to watch (or what they want me to watch), all I really want is just a simple list ordered by date and IMDb rating. I would be surprised if Flixable can keep up with the bandwidth costs, but I sure hope it sticks around.
